The Turkish Breakfast That Should Have Started It All

It has finally happened.  The Turkish breakfast I've been wanting to host since last year actually saw the light in April (yes, I know this blog is a bit late, but I was busy).  Baron Laphroaig and his wife, Dr. Pain, joined Husband and I, after a very difficult time in finding the perfect date, for this divine breakfast.  Most of you know that I love to experiment with weird and wonderful recipes, but I wasn't sure how some of these dishes would go down.  I had nothing to worry about in the end as everyone loved everything.
The Breakfast Table

The food we had was divine.  There was Simit (sesame bread rings), Cilbir (poached eggs on yoghurt), Menemen (scramble eggs), Feta, Cream Cheese & Honey, Sujuk (garlic sausage), Pastrami, Olives, Tomato and Cucumber.  Quite the feast for 4 people.  Oh, and of course copious amounts of Turkish tea.

Simit Rolls
Now obviously I couldn't do everything from scratch on the day, so the two items I made in advance were the Simit and the Sujuk.  The Simit froze beautifully, and you'd never say they were frozen beforehand when you taste them freshly baked.  I'd almost dare to say they were the trickiest part of the whole breakfast.

Sliced & Fried Sujuk
I'll admit that all four of us pigged out on the food, and somehow we each managed to scoff down 2 of the Simit each.  And the 2 that were left after breakfast made a very nice late afternoon snack with a few slices of Sujuk, so I gues we had a modified breakfast for dinner.  Foreign cuisine really is a thing that I would recommend everyone to try, now I just need to figure out what the next country's food will be on my table.  I know Lippetjies has mentioned Espetada, which is a Portuguese dish, understandable as she is, let me get this right, only a quarter Potjie.  So that might just be the next dish, with a side of Milho Frito.  Or a proper Spanish Valencian Paella.
